Firm’s Second Annual Report Showcases Its Achievements, Principles, and Priorities That Define Its Commitment to Sustainable Forestry
ATLANTA, GA — Timberland Investment Resources, LLC (TIR), one of the world’s leading private equity timberland investment managers, today announced the release of its annual Sustainability Report.
The report, Creating Value from Sustainable Forestry, highlights the significant progress TIR has made following a structured process of identifying and assessing material sustainability factors of its investments and operating activities.
“We embrace sustainability as a core value and recognize the central role that working forests play in delivering increasingly valued environmental and societal benefits including clean water and air, biodiversity, wildlife habitat, and enhancing overall community well-being.”
TIR’s Managing Partner and Chief Executive Officer, Mark Seaman, introduced the report by noting that over the firm’s 20+ year operating history, sustainability has been fundamental to the company’s culture and, “the cornerstone of how we create long-term value for our investors, partners, communities, and broader stakeholders and informs how we manage forests responsibly.” He added that, “environmental stewardship and social responsibility are our guiding principles for achieving positive and meaningful impact and value.”
“We embrace sustainability as a core value and recognize the central role that working forests play in delivering increasingly valued environmental and societal benefits including clean water and air, biodiversity, wildlife habitat, and enhancing overall community well-being,” said Justin Fier, Managing Director of Impact Strategy for TIR, who chairs the firm’s Sustainability Committee.
The report takes a detailed, data-driven approach to demonstrate TIR’s continuing commitment to its five sustainability priorities:
“TIR’s work,” said Fier, “directly aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through landscape-level conservation to help conserve biodiversity and a focus on climate change mitigation.”
“The objective of the report,” said Seaman, “is to enable our investors, business partners, employees, and wider stakeholders to better understand how we factor environmental and social risks and opportunities into our investment decision making.” Our priorities, continued Seaman, “set a high standard for TIR to continually improve at being a responsible steward of sustainable forestry investments.”
