Steve joined TIR in early 2016 and directs all forest management and timber-related operations, which includes managing the firm’s team of regional investment managers and investment foresters, participating in land acquisition and disposition analyses as well as developing and overseeing the use of decision-support systems designed to help the firm optimize investment performance on behalf of our clients.

Steve has more than 20 years of experience in investment-driven forestry ‒ having spent his entire career at Plum Creek Timber, a timber-REIT. Prior to joining TIR, he was Plum Creek’s senior resource manager in Greensboro, Georgia. In that role he had overall forest and land management and timber marketing responsibilities for 775,000 acres valued at $1.4 billion. These lands were spread across Georgia, Alabama, South Carolina and Florida. His efforts focused on directing all forest management activities, including silviculture, and managing the company’s regional budgeting, strategic planning, environmental compliance and timber merchandising processes. Steve and his team also worked closely with other Plum Creek’s business units, including the company’s real estate, energy and natural resource divisions. In addition, he supported and collaborated with the company’s executive team, its environmental science team, and its operations and finance teams, on a broad range of business issues and initiatives. Among others, these included the integration of three, large timberland acquisitions involving assets previously owned and managed by MeadWestvaco, Forestar and Campbell Global. Earlier in his career, Steve worked as marketing manager and senior marketing analyst in Plum Creek’s Athens, Georgia office. He also worked for the company in Montana as a senior resource forester and forest technician.

Steve was educated at Utah State University where he earned both a B.S. in Forest Management and a B.S. in Business Administration. He serves on the boards of both the Georgia Forestry Association and the Georgia Forestry Foundation.
