Don manages the day-to-day operation of clients' lands in the Mid-Atlantic region. He currently operates timberlands in Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia and has responsibility for land planning, timber production and merchandizing, regulatory compliance and environmental stewardship. He also participates in acquisition sourcing and analysis efforts within his region. In addition, Don is the Investment Forester responsible for directing and overseeing TIR's ground-level forestry and timber marketing efforts in Brazil, an assignment that make use of his strong and diverse skills as a manager of both plantation and natural forests.

Don joined TIR in 2006 after serving as a procurement forester with Chester Wood Products, LLC. In that role, his primary responsibilities included purchasing timber and forecasting mill consumption volumes and wood procurement costs. He began his career as a forester with Willamette Industries (later acquired by Weyerhaueser), managing a number of properties in the Carolinas over a ten-year period. He later joined American Forest Management , a forestry consulting firm based in the Eastern U.S., where he assumed responsibility for the management of lands owned by institutional investors. This entailed developing property-level management regimes and harvest schedules, facilitating timber and land sales and ensuring compliance with sustainable forestry standards while implementing intensive silvicultural practices. In an international context, Don's experience as both a field forester and as an industrial wood procurement specialist is particularly well-suited to the unique investment and operating challenges and paradigms that exist in Brazil and elsewhere in Latin America.

Don is a graduate of the University of Georgia where he received a BS in forest management. He is a Registered Forester, an active member of the Society of American Foresters and holds real estate licenses in a number of Southern states.
